What’s This Mini Mac and Cheese Recipe Like
- Difficulty – A super easy recipe that you can prep ahead and bake before serving. Total time is about 40 minutes.
- Taste – A creamy macaroni and cheese dish with a crispy topping. Perfect for entertaining kids!
- Serving – This recipe makes four fun sized mini mac and cheese.
So, I have to deal with the fact that I have a kid that prefers the processed non cheese version of Macaroni and Cheese. Well, he is a kid and they do tend to have strange taste buds. However, I have been told that my home made Chicken Strips are far better than any chicken nugget anywhere. Whew!
I also notice kids (one in particular) can be found putting ketchup on just about everything, which I will never understand. Maybe it is to hide the taste of my cooking. That I had never thought of before. Thankfully, I have not seem him putting ketchup on MY Macaroni & Cheese.
So, what’s the deal with making Mac and Cheese mini
- Well, they are cute and I had the little ramekins in my cupboards. Admittedly, I hardly ever use them. I seem to have a whole lot of dishes like that. Every so often they get dusted off to make an appearance and then tucked away to be forgotten about for years to come..
- As for these little cups, they would make a great idea for kids’ meals. Kids do tend to be even more visual with food than adults. Visual meaning no colour on the plate whatsoever.
- If you do love macaroni and cheese but prefer a great big one, you can find the recipe for the original Macaroni and cheese here. That recipe isn’t too different to this one really. These little cups are pretty basic with no herbs or leeks, onions and so on. Just basic pasta and sauce. But so good.
Recipe Notes
- Cook the pasta al dente as it is going in the oven for a further while to finish cooking.
- As well, I used home made bread crumbs as the bigger crumb is better in this dish.
- Also, when you are making the sauce, if it is a bit too thick, just add in a little bit more milk and whisk. It works every time.
